Our Story Begins With A Leap of Faith.

In 1986, Ray Hornsby started a company with not much more than a powerful business philosophy and a great idea.

For over thirty years, TempForce has been building business relationships between incredible companies and talented teammates.

Our business was built on a simple philosophy: give our customers more than they expect, and treat them the way we would want to be treated. It’s the philosophy that drives everything we do.

At TempForce, we don’t just fill jobs. Our mission is much greater than that.

We strive to understand the unique needs of our clients and our applicants, so we can make the perfect match between employers looking to grow their team, and qualified applicants searching for their dream job.

Our Story.

1986.

TEMPFORCE IS FOUNDED IN ANNISTON.

In 1986, Ray Hornsby purchased a TempForce franchise in Anniston. The goal was to support Calhoun County companies with a temporary workforce, making hiring quicker, easier and more convenient.

His dream was to build his business under the mantle of the “Golden Rule”: quite simply, to treat our customers the way he would want to be treated.

For something so simple, it seems some folks still don’t get it. Over 30 years, TempForce has grown in operations and clientele, while we’ve seen scores of other agencies come and go.

1997.

LOCALLY OWNED AND OPERATED.

In 1997, Ray became TempForce’s independent owner. We were no longer a franchise, but we kept the name TempForce-Smart Staffing Solutions and the national funding company to allow funding of any size payroll.

Our Alabama business community gets the best of both worlds: a locally owned and operated company with national service training and experience.

2006.

CONTINUOUS GROWTH.

After expanding to Pell City and Sylacauga in the 1990s, TempForce opened our Clay County Branch, currently in Ashland, in 2006.

Our locations allow us to serve companies in over eight counties in our region, including Calhoun, St. Clair, Talladega, Clay, Coosa, Tallapoosa, Cleburne and Randolph County.

2021.

INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION.

In 2021, TempForce was selected as a winner of the Best of Staffing Client and Talent Awards for providing superior service to our clients and candidates!

2019.

A NEW HORIZON FOR A MODERN WORKFORCE.

In 2019, TempForce introduced SmartSearch, the new Strategic Search and Direct Placement Division of Smart Staffing Solutions.

We began to offer strategic search and sourcing for a full-service platform with direct hire capabilities, making a more impactful partnership with our clients.

With a focus on sourcing highly skilled, specialized, management and executive roles, finding candidates for those hard-to-fill positions can now be handled by the service you’ve grown to love.
