Temporary jobs come in all shapes and sizes. Susan Smith only works one day a week, and yet she makes a big difference at her company!
Every Tuesday, Susan reports to work at a local truck driver school. Those days, the office is buzzing. The doctor comes in to do the students’ physicals, the phone is ringing with potential applicants and students, and Susan has to keep it all together and get the week’s paperwork taken care of.
There’s a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes to train commercial truck drivers. Susan helps keep it all going! She handles the receptionist duties, directing interested calls to the recruiters, keeps the office organized, and she makes sure all of the student applications are in the right place and faxed in, so this institute can keep putting out our region’s talented truck drivers.
Most of all, she enjoys working with the people. She says: when you have a good boss, it makes your job easier. And her team appreciates her industrious attitude and smiling face, too!
We’ll close on a few words of wisdom from Susan on how to make the most of any job: Try to learn as much as you can, especially if you’re young. If you have a new task, don’t pass the buck and let someone else take care of it. Take the opportunity to learn.
