After over a year of dedicated work, Jarid Underwood has mastered new skills, learned new procedures, and earned a permanent position!
This National Staffing Employee Week, we salute Jarid Underwood for his service as a TempForce employee! Though he’s moved on to a great permanent position at his company, a Pell City-based hydraulics equipment supplier, we’re proud of the work he did to get there, as a member of the TempForce team!
Hailing from Pell City, Jarid joined the team in 2016 through TempForce’s Pell City Branch. He started out in the production shop, doing heavy-duty cleaning and making a point to work diligently and safely. When there was an opening in the warehouse doing shipping and receiving, the company gave him an opportunity to expand his skillset, and Jarid jumped at it.
He took on the challenge of learning to operate the forklift and all the new procedures that came along with the new role, not to mention committing to memory all the materials that had to be moved to keep the warehouse running smoothly.
So how did Jarid turn his “temporary” position into a new career? In a word: determination. As his company’s HR manager recalls, Jarid was a “temp” for a long time. As they watched him grow in his role, he made it clear that he liked being a part of the company, and they saw the potential of a very valuable permanent hire.
What’s Jarid’s secret to success? “Don’t give up.” Whatever your current situation is, with a determined attitude, you can always turn it into your next big opportunity.
