Last week, Chris Speer turned a long-term temp assignment into a permanent career at Nemak!
But that’s not the only reason we have to celebrate Chris today: this overachiever was also TempForce’s selection for our February Safety Champion and Safety Bonus Winner.
Before he goes on to bigger and better things with his new company, we met with Chris to put the spotlight on everything he’s achieved!
Chris started out doing finishing and pack-out at one of Sylacauga’s largest, most trusted automotive manufacturers. He learned the job assignments on multiple finishing lines, kept his production manager impressed, and finally landed a spot on a brand new production line assembling parts for BMW battery shells. He was one of the first temporary employees brought onto the new line. He’s excited about working in a more stationary position, where he can get in the zone and stay focused.
His Production Manager, Michael, says: “Chris always has his proper PPE on, and works with a very positive attitude… I always see Chris following our safety policies and procedures and is willing to discuss any safety issues when improvements are needed.”
Chris always keeps safety in the front of his mind. “Think safer, for you and for others. I watch what I’m doing, how it’s affecting others, and what others are doing, too.”
As he moves from temp to Nemak family member, we ask Chris for one of his secrets to success: “Complain less, be positive more. This is a job, so just figure out the best way to get it done, and get it done! Work is more enjoyable that way.”
